November patchwork challenge – orange peace and plenty

Since this month’s block has not arrived from Helen, our block of the month queen, I decided to randomly pick one myself so I had chance to get something sewn this weekend.

So it serves me right that this month’s block isn’t perfect. It is however a nice speedy one to create, so at least you should find time to create it.

I chose ‘peace and plenty’ as its Remembrance day today and I’ve had a weekend remembering those lost in war after a morning walking across the moors to saddleworth’s war memorial for this mornings tribute and I went to Yorkshire Sculpture Park yesterday to see the Waves installation, a collection of the poppies which had been in London earlier in the year. Absolutely beautiful.

Anyway, on to the patchwork.

As you can see my version isn’t that neat, and while I think the fabrics work well together I think the pattern is a bit lost. And it serves me right for picking the block, some of my seams don’t line up… Grrrr.
